Unhappy my new nightmare - 06-01-2008, 12:20 PM

I don't want to name names, but I signed up for a free trial year with a paid webhost before I stumbled onto 000webhost.

Long story short, I'm happy with 000webhost so I attempted to delete the trial account with the other host. One would figure they'd be happy to be gone with the likes of me and glad to have their precious bandwidth back.

So I logged into my account over there and attempted to cancel my subscription. The only problem is that they *say* that if I click on the button that says "update subscription" I can tick a box, fill out a form and be on my merry way.

In reality-- I click the "update subscription" and there's one depressing option, and one option alone displayed: it says upgrade account! There's no option to cancel. Those dirty buzzards!

This resulted in a 20 minute phone call, and two support tickets and they are refusing to delete the account. REFUSING?

It's very weird-- on the one hand I would think that a company that is so stingy with their bandwidth and server resources would be happy to get rid of someone that has decided that their service is just not for them early on in the trial period, and on the other hand I'm completely shocked at how rude and just plain weird they are.

The guy that I spoke with this morning should simply never be left on the internet unsupervised-- he actually suggested that having too many regular visitors on a website is bad. What?!

I really had the urge to say something snarky about the SEO services that they also offer but I resisted and politely thanked him for his time.

On the bright side, between 000host, google apps and my other host things seem to be going swimmingly. When the two sites I've installed here merit the upgrade I'm STAYING and upgrading my account.

Cutemojo.com good luck in bite sized portions
