Could not connect to the database. Connector returned number: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL

Almost always a wrong database name or username, wrong password or wrong host name - or a mixture of all these.
Double check in members area/cpanel and click the MySQL icon.
As for ftp config, I don't think it's really needed for Joomla and can be setup later if it is.

Hi I had the same problem and i solved it this way. First you upload joomla, then you make a configuration.php and save it (dont right anything in it) set the cdmod to 777. Then you create the database, the list you get (database name, username and so on) copy that and set it in notepad, that way you get the right information. There u go, that should work....
