Truly Horrific Nightmare!!!!!! -
05-21-2010, 10:51 AM
All of a sudden, I just found my domain, emails and everything were just removed without any prior notices due to the fact that less than 10 visitors a month. This rule was never published and made known to the users in advance. I'm still developing the website and just uploaded part of the works coz the 000webhost website builder and fantastico cannot be used. Since this is not of any critical offences, why NOT
1.) send a prior notice to the user informing him/her of the status and offer a grace period for improvement.
2.) Instead of scraping off everything to nothing immediately, it is also viable to temporarily disable the website but the email, domain and everything still remain there and functioning. After receiving the notice, the user is then given a chance to take any appropriate action for changes or improvements. Once done, the user can just click a button to Enable the website instead of setting up everything from the scratch blindly. By the way, the loss of emails means a great loss to business. Indeed, I've planned to upgrade the account later if the business plan is feasible, having to test the market beforehand. Unfortunately, this disaster happened unexpectedly destroying my confidence.
What I felt extremely disappointed
1.) No grace period, no prior notice and everything were just scraped off all of a sudden. It acts like condemning a death sentence to a person without any reason and chance of appeal. Yes, you are dead.
2.) This is not of any offenses, really needs to get rid of the hard works of the users out of the blue ?
3.) The rule was never made known to users or published on any parts of the website, FAQ, T&C and etc.
4.) What is the definition for 10 visitors within a month? The period, a month, does the cycle start from the beginning of every month until the end of a month? Let say, 1st June until 30th June, 1st July until 31st July?

You are advised with a warning message when you log in to your members section. There you are offered the option to "protect account" which clicking will give you another month or two to up your visitor numbers. The shared server is used by thousands of people and it's important 000webhost remove dead/unused sites to preserve resources.
Incidentally, being murdered in cold blood by the state and losing your free website are pretty damn different and that you would compare the two is as insensitive as it is offensive.

can i also just say; is there any need for over sized text?
also, the rule about 10 visitors a month is fair because the service is free and a lot of people create accounts and then just leave them with out using them which is a waste of space.
so, in future remember to check for a warning in the members area.

You are supposed to get a warning message, but however, it is posted information about this in the FAQ section on the forums

Sorry if you happened to find the previous posting provocative earlier. What I meant was the rule was NOT mentioned in http://www.000webhost.com/includes/tos.php as well as in the Account FAQ for the knowledge of users beforehand.
Scraping off all the data and nullifying the domain out of the blue, it is just like depriving the citizenship and wiping away the memory of a human being. In the world of business, data is king. Indeed, it is the site of my frenz and he'll consider upgrading to paid account later.
All these important rules should be included in the http://www.000webhost.com/includes/tos.php and Account FAQ for our awareness.

Please stop using oversized font and making ridiculous comparisons to a free website and atrocities.
Also, please find the following sentences in the ToS:

@Jet. If you are not happy with 000webhost simply leave and find another host. You are part of the minority that has been disapointed with 000webhost. Sorry.
You can't expect loads out of a free webhost, can you? Lower your expectations!

Since this is a comment & suggestion page, my request is merely some sort of transparencies in the FAQ and TOS sessions, do you think such a request is very demanding or it will cost extra investments?
I know that I'm using and testing a Free Webhost and that's why I'd never made any request for high-speed access or 99% uptime. My little wish is transparency and extra notices by email to the users prior to deleting their sites. Gmail and Yahoo mails are provided free, what about they suddenly close and delete your accounts without any prior notice or stated rules beforehand ?
Sorry, I was not in mood the day after the incident. Anyway, this is just my 2 cents for improvement.
P/S: Sometimes, we receive free gifts but we do hope that the free gifts are safe or with precautions and won't trap us out of the blue. Just an example, not meant to be offensive, tks

Let me add some words.
1. 2 weeks before any "inactivity" cancellation we send you an email with instructions how to protect it.
2. We put a banner on your website that gives a cancellation waring. If you visit your website at least 2 times a month, you will notice it.
3. If no response form the client is received in 14 days a cancellation is proceeded.
And you don't even need to get 10 visitors per month. It is enough to have a fully uploaded website. To add, if you have ever clicked on the "Backup" icon on your cPanel and proceeded with full backup, all your files will be ready for restore even if your account was canceled and then reactivated.

You may want to check this email. I never received anything on the two times my sites have been flagged for closure.
