I have had a few issues and seen some posts recently of scripts showing that the version of MySQL is really quite old.

Also the latest version of WordPress (3.2.1 xD) has a problem with SQL and possibly our PHP version too. So nobody can use the latest WP.

(And I think PHPMyAdmin deserves an update just to look good)

Yes I know this is a big long & boring task that will mean services will go offline but I'd be happy to help

Agreed. PHP 5.3.x has been out for almost three years now, yet the servers are still running 5.2.x. I would strongly support an upgrade.

WP 3.2.1 works fine, what kind of issues do you see?
As posted a number of times on different threads there are no plans on upgrading the versions of PHP and MySQL on our servers
