Angry Topics are not being explained well enough. - 05-13-2012, 06:44 AM

Can we do something a bit different? I really don't know what the ultimate solution is, but I find way too many help request threads with insufficient information. The fact that some one like SHOCK says, ok.. What is your site URL? And the person asking for help goes on ranting and never replies to a simple question asked by SHOCK, so he/we can further assist them.

Is there a way to have people by rule, post their site URL in their sigi section?
Personally, I feel frustrated reading these half/fast help me threads that leave me scratching my head trying to make heads or tails of what is being said or asked or explained.

We recently changed the sign up form for the forum so users can add their URL to their profile. I can't really tell whether that's a required field or not, would have to look into the forum admin settings for that. But even if it was there would be "smart" users that would key in things like microsoft.com or whatever

Running the free script installation service we face the exact same problem. Every now and then there is a request along the lines of "Can you please install WordPress?". No URL, no FTP or MySQL details, nothing. So you have to ask the details and either receive no answer or a delayed answer which certainly does not help to speed things up

Being around on this forum for quite a few years now i got to terms with the fact that there always will be topics/questions lacking vital information and my method to deal with those is to simply ignore them.
