Exclamation Clean Educational Site Closed for Abuse!!? - 08-16-2008, 04:20 AM

I had this site which I made for an educational institution Im connected with. I used Joomla CMS and started some polls. In order for the users to participate, they have to register on the site. I noticed that users who are using Yahoo mail cannot receive a confirmation email from my site so they cannot activate their membership. I had to activate their registration manually. And then, in order for them to know that their membership has been activated, I used my site’s MassMail option to send all the activated members a message, telling them that they can now log-in in the site. I think there were 90 users whom I sent e-mail to. Right after that, my site was closed. Everytime I try to access my site, it is redirected to a page that says my site has been suspended/cancelled for abuse. That's just a pain in my a$$. I cant just abandon the site and redo all my work. Anyone has to say something about this?

please read the TOS, they forbid mass mailing.. (more than 20 mails (useing the mail()) a day... please send a support ticket to the help desk and explain why you sent mass mail.
then they will un suspend your account

Yeah I review the TOS and found out about that term. I just hope they will un-suspend my site as soon as possible coz i really need it badly.

Thanks for the reply dell. Have a nice day.

  • mail() sometimes sends email to the junk folder, it did for Hotmail today when I was running a test. Gmail was ok.
  • When your viewers register you should inform them of the above problem and to check their junk folders.
  • You might have to program a php script that will disable your registration form when the daily limit of 20 emails have been sent using the mail() function.

roysem, I'm sorry, but rules are rules, and if you violated them, it's no wonder your account was deactivated. This topic is closed now.
