Default 000webhost.com does NOT send out suspension warnings - 07-24-2012, 04:20 PM

To 000webhost.com:

I recently suffered what must be the most frequent complaint of your customers, that my free account was suspended -- thus, all my files deleted -- due to purported inactivity. If your business objective is to give unpaid customers a good experience and entice them into paying for hosting, this is an utterly ineffective business strategy. By not explaining clear standards up-front, you simply infuriate people who might otherwise give you money.

But that's not my primary concern. This question is simply about your repeated claim of sending out email notifications before accounts get suspended/deleted.

Searching through your forums, and external resources across the Interwebs, the consensus is nearly unanimous: 000webhost claims to send out warnings via email, and the rest of the world accuses you of lying.

Occasionally, 000webhost accuses ISPs and email spam filters -- this is nonsense because we can check our spam folders, and we regularly receive messages from the 000webhost.com domain.

Time to come clean, or close up shop.

If you do NOT send out email notifications/warnings before suspending/deleting accounts, just say so instead of claiming that you do (or might). If there is a technical problem, show at least a little effort in trying to fix this clearly widespread and infuriating problem.

It might help you increase revenue. You're a for-profit business, right?

I've been struggling with them for five days over the points you mention, but they do as if they didn't even comprehend the problems.
They basically say: You are a free user therefore we can do what we want and whenever we want without a warning.
I've been thinking of upgrading for a long time and I did it today. Naturally, I chose another host not hosing24dotcom, I'm not willing to pay a business with this kind of attitude.

Thanks for posting your thoughts. I trust that as more and more people articulate these obvious criticisms, the company will reform itself (to its better interests as a business).

I got to agree with the two of you. I am interested in going paid but the mufti-year contract levees me uncomfortable after what I have experienced here.

Hello,

I think it is ridiculous to compare a paid service with a free service.
You can not expect to receive the same services from a free hosting, which is largely staffed by volunteers, with a paid service that is staffed by workers.

I hope that in your new hosting (paying) you get everything in 000webhost (Free) have not succeeded, although you can also find other free hosting to get a more accurate comparison.

Bye, bye.

So then, you are labeled as a "Super Moderator" from Spain. Presumably this means that 000webhost, as a for-profit company marketing paid services to free customers, has authorized you to speak on their behalf in this forum. Is that correct?

If so, are you speaking on their behalf, confirming that they give incorrect information about sending email warnings when accounts are soon to be deleted? There is almost unanimous consensus that no warning emails are sent. That is the question of this forum thread.

Thus you totally ignored the subject of this discussion, and simply wrote, "bye, bye."

He is not speaking on their behalf, he is just a moderator on the forum. All of what he says is correct and a fair point.

This last post by d3iti is a perfect example how users are treated. Needless to say we get no answer to the original topic of the thread.

000webhost is the only one here that makes a comparison. They say: "better than paid hosting". Oh really?

But he -- and now you -- continue to avoid (defensively) the simple question posed by this discussion.

Bear in mind that fairly intelligent people use services like this. We're way too smart for evasive answers and blind defenses.

And so: back to the question. (Scroll up.)

I do not speak on behalf of 000webhost. I am only a forum moderator. I do it for free (free services must have volunteers to run).

To me in any moment nobody has told me I have to say or what I haven't to say. The day someone tells me what I have to say, I go out out and problem solved.

Repeated complaints from some users, make me suspect that perhaps they come from other web hosting competitive, if not, I do not understand how anyone could waste his/her time (unless he/she are charging this time from another company).

The initial question of this thread I have to answer my opinion: As a user of a 000webhost account, I have never seen in the Terms of Service, they have to warn you that an infringement.
