Post PETITION: FTP Quota - 10-07-2008, 02:18 AM

As many of you know, 000WebHost has set up FTP Quota limits, and rightly so, to prevent this wonderful service from being used as just backup and random file storage. However, the file limit of 2000 files just isn't large enough for people trying to run software such as Joomla, CMS Made Simple, and even Wordpress when you use a lot of plugins.

This petition just asks that the FTP Quota either be raised to at least 4000, or possibly even removed, so we can really use our full 250/350 MB of storage.

Just post with your name please, no rants or anything inappropriate. Let's keep this clean and maybe someone will listen. Thanks!

Aye! Jenn Torielle here, and I'm a new user so my word might not mean much, but it does strike me as shocking that 000webhost would impose such a limit seemingly out of the blue! Please raise the quota (hasn't admin said they raised it to 4000, even though some servers haven't registered the change) to either 6000 or unlimited!!

Oh come on.. login to your CPanel and check for a function named "1-Click Website Restore". Now just pack your 1000000's of files into .zip archive it will be extracted to your public_html with using 0 files of your quota!

I log in to ftp using FileZilla and it says that 727/6000 files allowed...

Actually I just have approx 600 files, because when I uploading to ftp, 100 of it was failed... (Maybe I have a slow connection???)

And I'm curious what will happen if the counter reaches 6000... Does it means that I can't upload using File Manager anymore? Or I must using that zipping way?

Deleting a files will not decrease the counter....

Actually, packed files into zip requires more steps, and sometimes the .zip format are not full supported... (For example, packing .zip in high compression)

And I thought it's clear that uploading directly to ftp is more easy than this zipping way, and I don't see valid reason to makes a limit of files (We already has 350MB limit and 100GB bandwidth limit, isn't it?)

And uploading will be done very often, because I upload my content to ftp for my Wordpress Blog purpose...

If I post my blog too much, I thought it will be easy to reach a 6000 limit...

I thought it's better to makes some more reasonable quotas, like 100.000 maximum file count in a whole 350MB disk spaces... It's better than only counting our ftp upload attempt, because like I said before, the counter isn't subsided if we delete our files...

Well when you delete a file it decreases the counter.

I'm limited to 2000 files (I currently have 700-800 files).

I'd like to install dokuwiki (2145 files) in a subdomain but I fear that if I upload the 1 click zip method I would damage the files already in place.
