I think its great, I have about 5 websites, 1 in production and the others are test servers for hobby mostly. I have noticed a few of the problems mentioned on the front page. the account I use for the production site (forum) is a netau.net server and it is awsome, not 1 problem. the FTP is screwy but I use filezilla and I put everything in the queue disconnect and the run the upload/download. 4-5 failed transfurs, reset them and they go on fine. the 6000 file limit got annoying. I have been trying to "upgrade" to godaddy and there interface is hard as hell to use. it really is worthless and then you pay for hosting and they put ad's on it that interfere with my site and it dosent work. F that. I'm hosting the domain with them and parking it here.

Only one con that comes to mind, there is a PHP setting that wont allow flash chat to work. Maybe if I suck up enough they will change it, lol

Pros:
Free
No Adds
cPanel
MySQL Databases
FTP
Backups
PHP
Excellent features I have not seen on any other free hosting
Technical support response very good

Cons: ( Just one that I've found but it's a big one)!
Intermittent Page load errors 'Network Timeout'
If you look through the forums it appears quite a lot of other users are have the same problem.
Quote:
Technical support suggested:
'Try cleaning up browser cache or restarting your internet connection'
'Try cleaning up your DNS and browser cache'
'Also you can try to access it by www.proxy.org service'
The final line from technical support which I think is the answer:
Quote:
'At this time you are welcome to upgrade your account and enjoy better service instantly. Upgraded accounts are located on different servers, so you will not experience any problems'
If moving the account to a different server solves the problem it indicates the server used for free hosting is over subscribed.

Admin, I don't want to appear ungrateful, as the hosting is free but This is annoying because it's not until you've spent time uploading the site that you find it's virtually unusable.

Maybe I should have consider the old adage, 'you don't get something for nothing'

I think it really depends on what server your on. I have 6 accounts, one is on server 27 and it rocks, and then I think I have 24, 26, 28 one of which sucks, constant problems, and the other two seem to be okay. The servers are open shared to 3000 users per. The Paid hosting is a virtual provate server with only 300. If your haveing a huge problem use the make new account button near the top and make another on a Dfferent server. you can use the website backup and restore functions to move and it only takes a few minuets.

The server is only perform as good as the people using it. If lot of people on that particular server to script that are not optimize like phpbb3 and a few other or extension of CMS that cause lot of server load so no matter which server you are on or how good it was performing it will become bad.

My suggestion is for everyone to do your share tuning your script, be selective of what you use, report any site that you see are abusing the service and then we will have a better server performance.

One more thing try not to run cron job too frequently either that will surely kill the server.

Thanks

well put Chanh. thats exactly what needs to be done. I do have another con though

the FTP being limited to 2 connections. I constantly get one connection stuck on and then I have to wait for that to time out. and if im up/downloading I cant keep browsing my files. I have to disconnect and then start so both connections can run at the same time.

open up that will open up server for abuse and DDOS. I would suggest use 1-click web restore for upload any file. You have not quota whereas ftp limit you to 6000 files and when that limit is reached you can't upload any more.
