Potential Soultions in likely order of success:
1) Google it
2) Check the documentation
3) Hope someone else here uses that module and provide us with what you've done so far and any error messages you have encountered along the way

I know this is an old thread but I have a similar problem.

I wish to use gmail as my smtp provider.

The settings I've been trying:

Mailer method: smtp

SMTP hostname : smtp.gmail.com

Encryption: tried both SSL and TSL, dunno which one it is supposed to be... neither have worked.

Port: 465

From username: used the default "CMS Administrator"

Sendmail location: used the default "/usr/sbin/sendmail

SMTP timeout: 1000

SMTP Authentication: checked

Username: I used my full gmail address
Password: The password associated with my email adress.

I then clicked submit, after the page was loaded I tried sending a test message. After clicking the page "reloads" but when I check the inbox of the mail I tried nothing is there. I tried my google adress aswell as my hotmail.

What am I doing wrong here?

Edit:
Please note that I have checked my spam folders and the test message was not there.
