Default Can't chance CHMOD to 777 - 10-10-2008, 08:51 PM

Hello

I installed Joomla and of course had problems installins extensions till i changed CHMOD permisions to 777. I instaled a new template, but now i'm not allowed to change template settings. the template folder is still set to 750 and I cant change it using FTP programme nor using this site's CP

I get this error

Warning: ftp_site() [function.ftp-site]: Could not change perms on /public_html/templates/aurora: Operation not permitted in /home/manager/public_html/includes/filesystem.inc.php on line 571
An error has occured

Unable to execute site command chmod 0777 /public_html/templates/aurora. Note that the CHMOD command is only available on Unix FTP servers, not on Windows FTP servers.

is there any other way to change this permissions? what am I doing wrong?

Tnx

What ftp program are you using? Also, try going to your control panel, going to the bottom, and hitting fix file permissions.

Then you need to chown it. user 99 is the user that the webserver is running as, so you must have uploaded that folder through the website instead of an FTP client.

Yes, I used Joomla!'s module for installing new extensions. How can I chown it?

Use the 'Fix File Ownership' function in your 000webhost cPanel
