Unhappy Drupal Won't Install - 02-18-2009, 11:18 PM

I can't get Drupal to install. I get to the part where I type in the database information and when I hit "Save and continue" it just sends me back to that same page. It doesn't even show me an error message or anything.

Make sure you are not using localhost and check your cpanel for the correct mysql information or read the FAQ

As far as i remember that was down to the analytics code being appended to each and every page unless turned off. To turn the code off follow these steps:

I tried disabling the analytic code and I'm using mysql1.000webhost.com but it still doesn't work. I know the other information is right because it shows an error message each time I do type something wrong. I'll probably try to get someone else to install it for me only as a last resort. I checked the minimum requirements for Drupal and that's not a problem either.

I've got the same problem. Turning off the analytics hasn't helped. I tried manually entering the details into 'settings.php', but when it carried on the the install page there were database errors.
I'm adamant I have the details right as well, I get no error message like I do when I try different things.

I just tried to recreate it by putting my user details in manually into settings.php, but it worked this time! Perhaps I made a mistake when I first entered them manually.
I tried entering the details into the Drupal configuration page first, but still had the same situation with it looping back to asking for the details.

I'm using Drupal 6.10, by the way. It's the recommended stable version.

when you want to install drupal for first time, drupal asks you to copy 'default.setting.php' to 'setting.php' file. just remember you must copy that, not rename!!!
