Default Your favourite forum package. - 03-07-2009, 12:40 AM

Tell the world, forum member...
tell the world.

I personally prefer phpBB for administration and PunBB for end-user features.

Phpbb is indeed one of the best forum scripts you can get for free, in fact with so many open source plugins and mods it makes it very useful and versatile but becareful of certain mods it just might open up an invitation to certain hackers... Vbulletine is a good one, but it requires a fee.

i guess i get to be the one who says "Other"
i find all of those are bloated, and because they are opensource, every Tom, Dick and Hacker can/will sit for days trying to find ways to exploit them.
best to just make your own, and validate everything properly.

(i know vbulletin isn't opensource, but it's still easy to find a copy.)

@all
I like phpBB and SMF, because they're really easy to use.

That depends on your requirements and what you mean by "better".

For example, say you:
1) have a forum hosted on 000webhost
2) need the forum to be available
3) are experiencing frequent and/or prolonged loss of connection with your MySQL server

In that situation, I'd say a forum package that doesn't depend on a MySQL db would be "better"; wouldn't you?

My favourite forum script is phpbb3, mainly because this is the only forum script I know how to use. I am a novice in forum administration.
