Cannot add a subdomain

I am not able to use a subdomain from my domain provider (godaddy.com) When accessing an added subdomain it redirects me to error.000webhosting.com. What am I doing wrong?

Please someone?

Where are you adding the subdomain, with 000webhost or with godaddy? Also can we see a link to an example?

I am trying to add it through godaddy. The address is m.wmaddicts.com

sizzlefire 11-05-2009 04:26 AM

Can you create it in the 000webhost control panel?

Forerunner 11-05-2009 11:32 AM

yes I am but it will not let me choose where it forwards to. by default it forwards to www.wmaddicts.com/m
and that isn't what I need

So how are you trying to configure it with godaddy, are you using some sort of A record?

Godaddy has an add subdomain section of their site. ill post a screenshot.

All this does is forwards your subdomain do a folder on your site, it does the same exact thing as the one in your control panel, if you wish to use this however then you will need to upload the files to a folder on your site and then paste the address to that folder on your site in the box saying "Forward This Subdomain To:"

I know this post is pretty old, but in case someone else is looking for a solution:

1. Create your subdomain with GoDaddy
2. When it asks you the URL to forward it to, simply add the subdomain URL itself. For instance, if your domain is www.simpledomain.com and your subdomain "sub.simpledomain.com" the URL you would be adding to "Forward this subdomain to" is "sub.simpledomain.com" and click Ok
3. Create a site with 000webhost and for a domain enter the subdomain you created with GoDaddy (sub.simpledomain.com). Don't use a free domain from webhost to be forward it, because 000webhost doesn't permit domain changes. In simple terms, just add the GoDaddy subdomain is if it were the main domain.
4. Even if on 000webhost's control panel it tells you that the DNS doesn't point to their servers, the process will work because the main domain is already pointing to 000webhost's server.
