My site seems to have gone down and shows this error http://error404.000webhost.com/
All the files are there, I have reset permissions and ownership.
The DNS nameservers are set correctly.
It says I have used 0 / 1500.0 MB however I have used 50mb so far.
The site uses the latest version of wordpress.
Can anybody offer any pearls of wisdom?

this could be because of your .htaccess file in your public_html directory which has some lines that apparently have a wrong syntax. Please recreate the file through WordPress and see if that helps

Thanks for getting back.
I did not create the .htaccess file or edit it as it was created by Wordpress.
The site does not load so I am unable to log into Wordpress to make any changes.
It was working 10 hours ago then I went to sleep and it stopped working.
Is there anything else I could try?

You can edit the .htaccess file using the file manager in your control panel or a FTP client. There is no need to login to WordPress at all.

Thanks very much for your help.
I deleted all of the code and then the site worked however the links did not. So I just saved the permalinks again and all is well.
