Default Loading Wordpress.org to 000webhost - 11-28-2011, 03:15 PM

Hi there - I was following along with a YouTube video explaining how to upload Wordpress.org to 000webhost. Everything was going well until it came time to do the actual upload. It won't do it. Then I notice there's a 5MB limit on single files. Ha ha! Wordpress.org comes in a 12-13 MB ZIP file, or a 10.7 MB TAR ARCHIVE. So the only solution is to upload each of the dozens upon dozens of files singly. Or is there an easier way?

Hi, there's no filesize limit if you use an ftp client like filezilla - http://filezilla-project.org/
Easy to use and free, instructions here - http://www.000webhost.com/forum/faq/...t-servers.html

I already have FileZilla, but I had trouble making a connection. It says "Connection established" but then it times out waiting for the welcome message.

Here's what I am entering:

Host: ftp://www.thefilmsaurus.com (also tried http:// and without the www.)
Password: correct password
Username: taken from 000webhost account page, lower-case "a" 7-digit number
Port: have tried 80 and 21

It'll only make the connection with ftp:// prefix in Host and Port 80, otherwise the connection is refused outright.

Other info: I currently have a Wordpress.COM site pointed at this domain name (acquired thru GoDaddy), but I am trying to switch over to Wordpress.ORG so I can install more custom material. I am tempted to switch to a competitor just to have a less frustrating transition.

Right, I did attempt that. However it needs it to be prefixed with FTP or another protocol.

Nope, just as it says in that tutorial, no prefix.

And when the error message comes up saying I need a protocol like FTP, what then?

Does any of this have anything to do with the fact that I have WP.com pointed at the domain?

Error message states, when using Port 21, "Connection refused by server," makes several more attempts using different IP (not sure about this, I am not very savvy with technical terms) then giving up.

I don't use filezilla I use a different client, same principle though, looks like this. Make sure it's set to normal and not anonymous.
