Default Can I build a site with free domain and redirect a vanity domain later? - 01-16-2012, 09:18 PM

If I build a site (using WordPress) under the free domain can I later redirect a vanity domain to that site?
In other words if I park domain.com in the domain.comze.com account and then redirect it later, will the urls all be under the vanity domain (domain.com/xxxxxx)?
The advantage of that is I can see and fully test the site before switching off the old site.
Or is it required to create the account off the bat under the vanity domain?
Or would a back up/restore to vanity domain account be a better option?

I tried it out and the parked domain routine is no good. Links are obviously all to the free domain urls.
Back up / restore works okay so that's what I'll use.

I did back up and restore to the vanity domain account/site but the links reflect the old account/site not the new one. Can someone explain how to move one built site over to another account/site using back up/restore so the links all reflect the NEW domain?
In other words:
I created a WordPress site under domain.comze.com
I created a new account under domain.com
I backed up domain.comze.com and restored it to domain.com
The links in domain.com are domain.comze.com so page1 is domain.comze.com/page1 NOT domain.com/page1 as it should be.
This has to be a fairly common action I would think.

Did you try the export/import feature in Wordpess?
Export from the old site and import into the new site?

Go to dashboard/settings/general and change the 2 URL's there.

Thanks.
I did try changing those 2 urls in settings but still some pages have the "old" url so I'm confused.
Old: http://webbrewers.comyr.com/?page_id=12
New: http://webbrewers.info/?page_id=38

If you navigate to "home" from the above page, it goes to the old url. It seems things didn't get fully updated.

NEVER MIND> When I changed urls in settings the first time, it didn't save. Now all is good! Thanks.

Try clearing your cache, you're viewing saved pages by the sounds of it.
