Default Nameserver Problem... - 01-17-2012, 07:21 PM

Hi,

I started using free hosting here with the domain name through Go Daddy chrissimonsphoto.com a while ago and hosted a blog. I was very happy with the hosting, but I would now like to point chrissimonsphotography.com to 000webhost. I use Go Daddy for my domains, and I have changed the nameservers appropriately. I even used whois.net to verify that the nameservers successfully changed. It has been quite a few days now.

Unfortunately chrissimonsphotography.com is still not showing my blog that I had set up yet. All my files are still on the server though, I checked through the Members Area. Am I doing something wrong? When I log into the members are here it still says I am managing chrissimonsphoto.com. Is there somewhere I can change it so it knows I am sending a different domain here?

This might be a simple issue but I appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi, you need to go into members area and create an account using that domain name (chrissimonsphotography.com) and put the folders and files for that site there.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Does this mean that I will lose my blog completely? Or is there a way to transfer everything over?

Just download the whole site from chrissimonsphoto.com onto your own pc, then upload to the new site, it means that you'll have 2 identical sites, it's up to you then if you keep both sites or delete one of them.

Ok that makes sense, using FileZilla. However, if I don't have chrissimonsphoto.com pointing here, then I can't access it with FileZilla. Is there is another way to connect directly?

I suppose I could point it back to get my latest backup of all files...if it came to that, and then upload them to the new one.

Being that it is a wordpress blog aren't I going to have issues with changing servers that it is hosted on? Maybe not, but I feel as though I tried that once (uploading all files onto a new server) and there were lots of database errors.

Sorry for all the questions. It's all making sense slowly.

Thanks,
Chris

I really wish I could just change the domain on my first account, since everything is already on the server and functional...

You can park the new domain ontop of it in members area.
