Default How to set pointers using a own domain and 000webhost - 02-04-2012, 11:08 PM

I have a problem with this thing.

I bought a own domain from namecheap.com and I have a server on 000webhost (where is my forum).

How do I set my domain or server settings like I see also those pointers?

Server shows:

-> 000webhostaccount/viewforum.php?f=14
-> 000webhostaccount/viewforum.php?f=30

domain shows
-> myowndomain.com
-> myowndomain.com

So i like to see forum pointers like this:
-> myowndomain.com/viewforum.php?f=14
-> myowndomain.com/viewforum.php?f=30

Can u anybody help me?

You should check if there is any option ''parked domain''. If there is setup the nameservers at namecheap to 000webhost's. Then add your domain as new parked and wait 24-48 hours for the update of the nameservers. But if there isn't option of Parked domain, you should backup your forum and sql database and download them. Then delete your hosted forum. After that create new one but choose ''i will host my domain'' and enter your domain: myowndomain.com . It will create a new account. Then reupload your files using filezilla, and create the mysql database and then using phpmyadmin upload the backup of database using phpmyadmin. Then enter your forum and change the settings to the new mysql database and ftp directory. Remember: this will work only when the nameservers of your domain have been updated. to 000webhost's. So you have to do the second method 48 hours after you have submitted the change at Namecheap. And your domain will work as parked only when the nameservers have been updated.

Thanks your comment.

I used setup "parking domains" from 000webhost and I set up nameservers from namecheap.com.

But when I now go to my mydomain.com it goes right to my server and change url to it (and i cant see my domain in url).

www.mydomain.com -> www.000webhostaccount.com/

It should be still www.mydomain.com -> www.mydomain.com (?????)

Is it working wrong? Or does those nameserver updating take more time? Or have I missed something?
