Default SpaceBukkit? - 10-22-2012, 08:53 PM

So, I've been trying to get SpaceBukkit installed on my website so a friend that doesn't know his way around SSH will be able to administrate my server when I'm unable. However, this normally simple task just doesn't feel like working.

The first problem I had was a constant 404 error. I simply removed the .htaccess file and the problem was solved.

Now I'm having this problem:
http://gatedcommunity.hostoi.com/cp/install/#

This was the contents of the .htacces file I removed:
Code:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
   RewriteEngine on
   RewriteRule    ^$ app/webroot/    [L]
   RewriteRule    (.*) app/webroot/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
Options  -MultiViews
Does anybody have any ideas?

Have you tried .htaccess with the bit at the top you're not supposed to remove?
Code:
# Do not remove this line, otherwise mod_rewrite rules will stop working

RewriteBase /

I appended that to the top of the .htacces file, reuploaded, and I'm now getting the 404 error again. I've never removed anything from the .htaccess file.

Code:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
   RewriteBase /
   RewriteEngine on
   RewriteRule    ^$ app/webroot/    [L]
   RewriteRule    (.*) app/webroot/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
Options  -MultiViews
This is what it looks like now. I've also tried putting it at the top of the file. Am I doing something wrong?

Not sure then, just googled spacebukkit and I doubt it will run on a free host anyway, I think you'll need remote connections to minecraft servers which is not possible.

Why will it not run? Is there a specific reason why PHP on a free host wouldn't be allowed to connect to an external resource?

You'll find most if not all free hosts don't allow remote connections, allowed if you upgrade. Search around and see, you'll also find that even with paid hosting, the type of connection you require will probably need a dedicated server or a VPS at the very least as you'll run into fair usage problems regarding CPU usage with paid shared hosting.

Well, I guess I'll take my chances anyway.

Does anybody else know what I might be able to do to fix this?
