Exclamation Slow MySQL queries - 03-09-2009, 04:31 PM

Hi everyone, forgive me if I make some mistakes, English is not my native language.

I received a mail today (twice the same) from 000webhost.com which says:

"We have detected that your account executing a slow MySQL queries.

Username: *******
Domain: *********
Database: MySQL
User: ******
MySQL Query: show databases

Slow MySQL queries are not allowed, because you share server resources with thousands of other users and your long MySQL queries are slowering the server and other users are having MySQL performance and connectivity problems. Please optimize your MySQL queries as soon as possible. Here are some good articles how to optimize MySQL queries: http://www.google.com/search?q=optimize+mysql+queries Good tips how you can optimize your scripts and make our servers run faster: - disable visitors monitoring and tracking (each move of your visitor makes database query)- disable all unused modules- disable internal stats for your website - use http://www.google.com/analytics/ for example We thank you for understanding,www.000webhost.com"

I really don't understand why I received this mail, I have a simple website with a SMF forum and I didn't install any modules on it.
After this mail I disabled my forum stats but that's the only thing I can do, I searched on google how to optimize my MySQL queries but I don't understand a thing.

This e-mail also says that because of me other users are having MySQL performance and connectivity problems.
My website was down during 30 minutes today for the first time (I didn't change anything on my website).

Do I have to be worried?

Hi Shorty, No pro here just trying to help while waiting on question for myself?
Did you get resolved? Is your site a forum?

Most problems I do see from any and all hosting sites are from forum sites,
I would think there would be several scripts, shared servers queries that
really are included in the file/programs,that may not be easily analyzed quickly.

How to fix, I'm not at all familiar with forum set up, only simple not complete websites almost,

Post back and let us know someone will try to help,

Thanks for the answer leanback, I have a website xhtml/css and a forum Simple Machine (SMF).
I disabled the forum stats and if it's not enough I'll disable the "Who is online" module.
For now I don't have any problem, I'm just afraid that my website could be closed because of that e-mail.

I posted a ticket to the admin but no answer, I really hope that they won't close my site.

SMF is one of the most resource intensive forums around, best to just disable any "toys" you can, once you know they work, when you're ready to move up to paid hosting, you can re-enable them.
some free hosting sites won't even allow you to use SMF.

Ok I thought it was phpbb the most resource intensive forum, I'll disable the "Who is online" module that's the last thing I can disable.
