Default Got new domain ... - 03-10-2009, 06:50 PM

Hello,

I started out using a free domain with 000web hosting. www.yovillechatter.comyr.com.

I decided to go with a hosted domain and pointed everything to the information I had for my free domain but now see that I have two accounts listed. My old one plus a new one yovillebuzz.com, and that each have their own control panel.

Does this mean that my site at the old free domain will not come up and that I have to start over and build the website again on the new domain?

I, also, need help figuring out how to get my contact boxes pointed to the correct email. Right now they are going nowhere and I don't see any place to configure this.

Thanks.

Unfortunately yes, as you created a new account and as far as I know there is no way of changing the domain name in the account settings

Is there a way to back-up my site and then upload it into the new account?

Okay, so I see that on the cp you can make and download a copy of your website.

From the backup icon
click generate new fresh backup
once backup generates click make backup available for download
you will then get a link to download the backup.

Can I do this by parking the new domain on the old one?

Can you do what by parking the new domain on the old one?

If you want to use the new domain name, there are three ways of doing so:

1) reinstall everything

2) backup the old domain, download the backup, "restore" to the new domain and make any, necessary, edits

3) redirect the new domain to the old and use "rewrite", on the old domain, to change "yovillechatter.comyr.com" to "yovillebuzz.com"

Yes, parking the new domain name on the old service will do what you want. But in the long run, it will be better to do the old backup / new restore method.
