The good thing about Windows MS:
There isn't enough time between crashes for a virus infection to kick in.

With MicroShaft Windoze crashing so much, many users thought the BSOD was actually desktop wallpaper

+1

Thought, not just Ubuntu... Linux as the whole, openSUSE, Mandriva, Fedora to name three more. And.. Linux is free, open and no 'user lock-in'.

Hans (just off-topic, are you by any means from Norway/Denmark?)

If you are thinking about when the kernel-server was hacked, don't worry, md5-checksum is the most secure way to check wether two files are identical to eachother or not, and it was the same when they check it

And for you that are looking for a Linux distro to use, check out distrowatch:
http://distrowatch.com/

They have the most up-to-date database of all of the distro's out there.

However, I'd like to advice the Ubuntu project for you whom are looking for an easy-to-use Linux Distro, and for the ones whom hate Ubuntu, bear in mind that they made "Linux for everyone" a reality with its ease of use.

(yeap, norway tønsberg)
i was refering to the linux kernel panic "state", when the system has essentially crashed, printing a bunch of debug information and halt/idle/restart; essentially the same as BSOD. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_kernel_panic
but Unlike BSOD, its an extremely rare event

I have been using, at home and work, Linux on work stations and the server room of 1994, soon after SUSE Linux came to be. In that time, I have had four only Kernal oops (panic)

So, yes... rare. And it was my fault, then. I fixed things, that did not need fixing
