Default delete default php??? - 08-06-2011, 01:22 PM

Help,
My website was deactivated because it had not been used for quite awhile. When I tried going onto my website an error appeared. Since I know very little about this and the person who created my webpage is no longer available I decided to see if I could figure this out. I checked and made sure my domain was current. It appears to be. I did not know who hosted my web but with a bit of research found out it was 000webhost.com. I believe I reactivated my account. However now it says that my website has been successfully installed on server. Please delete file default php from public_html folder and upload your website by using FTP or web based file manger. Can someone help me figure this out. Is my webpage still at webhost.com?

Do you have a backup? The best way to get your site back up and running is to upload a backup of your website and any database that it used.

If you don't have a backup, then I would suggest trying to find out if the person who set it up for you has one.

Default default.php gone! - 12-24-2011, 02:33 PM

i am in a similar situation as Mark. Except I just didnt log in for a while because I lost the internet for a little while. Then I got it reactivated, started to install the update of WordPress 3.3 and then I went to this link and it said to remove my default.php. So I did and now... things arent exactly working! How can I get this file back?
Thanks
Caren

Is your site in your profile? If you want your site back to default you can 'Cleanup / Reload Account' in cpanel of members area. This will remove all folders and files that you have uploaded and reset the site.

One way to eliminate the default.php file is as follows:
1. Enter "Members Area" -> CPanel for your site
2. Click on "File Manager"
3. Click the checkbox that appears next to the default.php file
4. Press the Delete button

Just joined and successfully up loaded my Website to the Public Folder.
This is the second attempt as I had wait 24 hours to go through the process again.

Following the cues I went to the Control Panel and deleted 'default.php' as asked.

My question is - When I type in the web address I am not taken to my website but to a page with "Index of" followed by my we bite name as a live link!

Why has this happened, considering I have followed directions exactly, and how do I amend this glitch?
I can't post my web address if users aren't taken to where the address promises...
