im trying to install smf using the web installer and then after I enter my ftp server address, port, username, password and the folder I want installed in it says it couldn't find a way to write files to my server.

i tried that method now the normal installer isnt working properley it doesnt tell me any thing and iv reached a point where i think it wants my database prefix but i dont know what that is im using comodo dragon browser.

You can make up a database prefix (just 2 or 3 letters) as long as it ends with _
