Exclamation Access to Shell, upgrade PHP? - 09-07-2012, 10:32 PM

Hey guys! I use phpBB 3 on my website, and it states, "The version of PHP on this server will no longer be supported by future versions of phpBB.", how do I upgrade my PHP version?! I was told it had to do with shell commands, to first upgrade Apache, then upgrade PHP. I need to upgrade PHP to either, 5.3.1, or 5.4. (Which came out August 15, and is stable! ) So please help this novice!

PHP on shared web hosting liked this is shared between all of the sites on the server, it can't be upgraded individually site by site and would need to be done by the server admins globally.

I'm pretty when there becomes a need to upgrade it, they will. I had a similar question by one of my clients, the answer is that although PHPBB won't officially support the current version of PHP, it doesn't mean to say it won't work.
