I recently moved my site here from another host. I have only had my site running for two months, but I was having massive problems with the other webhost's servers. Since I moved to 000webhost, I have not had any problems at all.
I would like to showcase my site. It is www.cage-den.com
Take a look and tell me what you think!

Hiya! It's wonderful to see others who write and have stories on here!

I've done similar to you in the past, listing stories for people to read an the alike. Your site is very simply but a little confusing as to what's going on. I'd like to highly advise an easy to use program called eFiction. It's amazing for people who want to post their own stories or create a website for people to post stories on.

I use a semi-large monitor ( 22inches ) at a resolution of 1280x1240 which makes reading your stories a bit hard. They're very long since there is no formatting causing them to have new lines... Below I've add'ed a script I use for stories on a single page. You may want to use something similar to this and just modify your margins that way instead of on large monitors like mine... a paragraph will go on for four or five lines and not just two lines. that will make it much easier for those like me to read. (Ignore some of the custom stuff I put in that code.) This is highly basic html that I did for when I'm lazy and don't want to code something for text based sites.

Now then! A question about your stories... Do they mostly take place in BC era? Or do you do modern as well? I look forward to reading the stories fully once my eyes are not being so blurry from playing games!

HTML Code:
<html>
<head>
<title>Document Name</title>
<body bgcolor="#555555">

  padding: 1em;
  margin-right: 80px;
  margin-left: 80px;

  border: 2px #777777 solid;

}

Thank you, Sirmoo! I am going to try your code. As to weather I do modern, yes. Only three of my stories take place in BC, and one of those is not posted yet. "Maetai," "Blood of Mine," and "Metropolitan Emergance" are all modern time. "Amazing Grace" is turn of the century circa 1998 or so. Most of the stuff I have posted is in progress.

I've been reluctant to do a super historical story just because of all the work I'd have to do in research to make it accurate. I hardly do things in their own fictional universe... For a few of the stories I've written I've spent hours and hours researching a topic... Morocco's West Sahara... I was going to use that for a chapter but at the last moment scrapped the idea in the middle of writing it. I'd hate to spend the time researching a period in history... only to end up not liking it.

One of my major enjoyments in writing is incorporating some other language into the story some how. I try to use very simply sentences in other languages depending on the setting. Like a basic discussion with a cab driver or so. Though I tend to find I get carried away with pointless research on the internet and eventually forget I'm writing because I'll get side tracked learning about something.

I've done that alot for this series I've spent days researching and been carried away to things that have little or nothing to do with the series I'm working on.

I've made some changes to my website. Moved most of my stories to SirMoo's template and simplified some things. Check it out! I'm looking for some constructive critisism!

Ohhh ouch... you really wanting some constructive criticism? In general, strangers wouldn't stay on this page for more than a second. At most your friends may take a few more seconds to look at it to show their respects.

It's hard to believe it wasn't but 10 years ago, websites looked like this. I do not mean to hurt you feelings, but this is old school and the modern world, who is familiar with the web, wouldn't look at this page. They'd click "back" before the page fully loads.

Modern day websites typically have a theme, colors, nice eye candy graphics, and is well organized.... basically little things to trick people into being attracted to their website. It's like women, a pretty woman (for men), you will keep looking at for a while. Same goes for websites. The prettier it is, the more people will watch and WANT to stay. (some of you may think i'm crazy, but this is the truth).

This as is may be good for learning basic html and php, but that's it. Again no offense and you asked for it lol

Take a look at http://www.templatemonster.com/ it'll give you a basic idea of modern day websites.

Also I recommend you learn Adobe Photoshop or the FREE GIMP (http://www.gimp.org). They are very powerful image manipulation software. Excellent for designing a website layout and converting to CSS HTML.

These tools would get your website and your understanding of modern day software up to date.
