Smile Advice on my new website - 07-18-2011, 09:23 PM

I created this as both a revival of my lucid dreaming site, and as a shameless plug to the fact that, yes, I can "website" as my eloquent acquaintance Chiro likes to put it.

Residing here, it's not finished yet at all, but I'd like critique on the design and content if someone has the time. And I'd like to mention, there is only one image that appears on every page, and all hosted by Google because I'm a cheapskate when it comes to performance and pretty much everything else.

The layout is good while it is easy to navigate through.
In addition, the site loads really fast which is a good thing, but with a sacrifice on the design.

I'm sorry to say this, but the design is really bad. Instead, I recommend using a template (there are a lot on 000web host and they are all free, although they may be outdated you can pick one to your liking). In the end, your site will be much more appealing.

However, if you wish to keep your current design, the text is barely visible and so you should make the text a darker colour.

In any case, I wish you good luck on your site!

Thanks for looking at it
And yeah I guess I did overdo it with the speed over design part, as it's one of my pet peeves (I have no patience for loading x3)

Was there a specific thing that jumped out as bad? I myself was rethinking the design and I must admit the black gradient is unneccicary and pretty bad looking. Think I should get rid of it or at least tone it down a little?

And also this may seem a weird question but... what is the background color for you? Because I've tested it in all browsers that I know of... except IE.... If that's not the case, I'll change the bg because the text is pure black on the content areas x3

---------------------
EDIT:

I've edited the design to where it looks more appealing in my opinion. Comments?

Good job, the text is much more readable now.

Very good site with lots of information, however I think the look is very "90's web" maybe try a joomla installation. I think that would be great with the amount of content you have.
