Default My Website - Portfolio - 08-09-2008, 01:06 PM

HI, Well i've finished the design of my site, there is still a huge amount of work to go into the site yet.

I'm a programmer, unfortunatly no commercial experience and no driving license(that does seem to be an issue)

because of the above, i've been rejected for jobs many times, recently it was down to the piss poor sites i had online, i didn't design them(infact the designer still uses frontpage... o_O), i did the very small amount of php code the needed as such i didn't get the job.

After a conversation with a recruiter it was suggested that i make an online portfolio, Here it is, over time it'll have alot more including tutorials, which can be in C++, C, C#, Asm(Masm or Fasm) amoung other things. o and php of course.

the site will have a shopping cart with full functionality, just no payment processing as its a demo. the site is just a interactive portfolio allowing people to demonstrate my work.

the site itself is a CMS written from scratch by myself and is still very much under development.

Well let me know what you think of the site, it was developed in Dreamweaver, graphics in illustrator.

Damnations Developments

over time, i intend to upgrade to premium and mirror the site in asp, demonstrating i can do the same in ASP as i can in Php

Are the nav bar links suppusto have subtabs under it, or are they suppusto display inline? Cause honestly to me it looks like the code is just messing up. Im not bashing how it looks, im just trying to say what it looks like to me.

they display inline, no tabs. although i've only tested this so far in firefox (default browser) and at 1280 x1024 resolution.

if there are any issues in others i will find and fix in time.

yes it meant to look like that

the top row you could call the 'Main Categories'
the row below is the 'sub categories'

if you click on account you'll be faced with two differen't sub categories, login and account.

obviously due to being a CMS its all changable (not style yet) but what the categories are and what the subcategories and which have sub categories and which don't.

If you do have any suggestions to improve the design i would be happy to hear them, except of course the removal of my ugly mug, that will happen when my illustrator skills improve and i manage to create a decent logo. but once again any and all suggestions welcome

Add a title tag <title></title>

Your site sounds similar to mine. I'll check back periodically to see if you've coded anything cool. ^^

EDIT: You have a title tag but you need to change it. Untitled Document doesn't look nice.

There is a similarity isn't there, i've done games development before, i made a pacman clone for xp. using dos, i had intended to port to sdk, then finally to directx. but things came up(i.e got a job, then my daughter arrived ).

i do wish you all the best and if you are not already a member i suggest you join one of the links in my index page i'm sure you can gather which one, i'm not sure if i can post links on here. but that site for game development has been amazing. i am on there asking newb questions, i go in and out of game development too often.

As for the title its there, i just hadn't defined a title. i have a function to grab the title anyway so not an issue to update infact i've already done it on my local host.

i'll update that site once i've finished secureing the logins md5() hashing passwords etc in the database, won't take long. but unfortunatly i've got company appearing shortly and i know i won't be able to get anything done.

Thank you for checking the site out. once again any suggestions on the design please state them, i will not take offence unless i get its rubish.

i don't mind its rubbish as long as there is an explination afterwards, how can i improve without it ?

Thanks again!

I used to be a member of the first link but everyone there is a grammar Nazi which annoys me : /. They have a lot of resources but I just can't stand posting in the forums.

The site looks stretched on my massive monitor but looks fine on my friends monitor (his computer is here).

I don't know if you made the banner but the "m" and the second "a" in damnation is hard to make out (I like the style, just those two letters makes it hard to make out the first word without looking at the title of the site.)

That's about all I see for now.
