If you are talking about the tube mote, then youtube is A option and not THE option. It is youtube, justintv, scribd, vimeo, daily motion and ustream among others. This is not to mention the other options in the carousel, or the options in the main menu on top that you mentioned.

The whole point is to give you options without leaving the site, and there is a duel screen feature if you want to slide the frame over on the right. There are more live streams than anything. Not only that but it in the download section, there are google custom search engines, DDL sites, Meta torrent, and ftp direct file search where people can download what they want.

That is just a tip of the iceberg.
