FTP file quota exceeded!

I’ve been trying to upload my Joomla folders to my server via FTP. There are roughly 10,000 files. About 3/4 way through, I got the following error message when each file failed to upload:

“Error: Critical file transfer error
Response: 550-Quota exceeded: plugins won’t be saved
Response: 550-6000 files used (100%) - authorized: 6000 files
Response: 550 17853 Kbytes used (1%) - authorized: 1536000 Kb”

I looked it up online and it seems 000webhost allow a maximum of 6,000 files on your website? Is this true?

I’ve got it down to 7,500 files but that’s about as far as I can go.

So I have two questions:

  1. Has anyone else had this problem?
  2. What else can I delete from the default Joomla folder without it messing up my website? I’ve already deleted the unused templates and installation folder.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

What do I do?

Do I just compress the Joomla folder into a .zip file and then upload it via FTP??

To bypass the limit you can zip it up and then upload it using the website restore tool but it’s a bit of hassle because whenever you want to upgrade or upload something else you have to got through the process again.

Okay, thanks. What is the ‘website restore tool’ and where can I find it?

Thanks again.

In your cPanel. Should be called 1 click restore or something similar.

Yeah, I’ve found it but I’m not sure I fully understand it.

Do I delete all files in the public_html folder and then upload my Zip file with the ‘1-Click Website Restore’ tool?

It probably just overwrites everything…

I tried but got the following error message:

"Upload failed because of one these reasons:

  • File extension must be only .zip or .tar.gz;
  • File size must be less than 50MB;
  • Your domain is not yet pointing to our server;
  • Server is on maintenance (archive will be restored later)"

Problem is, it’s none of these problems because,

a) It is a .zip file
b) It is 15mb
c) I have chosen a free domain with the .comlu.com extension
d) I’ve never had a problem with 000webhost and I doubt this is the problem

Any ideas?

Yes, it’s there. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it!
