It's in right place if files are inside the public_html folder. For your site to display you need a page called index.html (or .php, .htm)

All files of your website should be uploaded to public_html directory.

Is there an index.html or index.php in your public_html directory?
If not, browsers will display the directory contents, as they always search for your index page first.

If you are installing a CMS, and you have already uploaded it to your public_html directory, you will likely have to install it before the site will work.

The CMS package should have an install page... If it's not included within the index.php, point your browser to it.
