Default Idiots guide to adding a Sitemap - 02-13-2009, 03:13 PM

I have just set up my first website using a 000.webhost's Web Builder and have been trying to set up a sitemap which is Google friendly but Google tells me that there are errors "Unsupported format".

I have tried creating a sitemap in two different ways
i. using web builder's module
ii. using xmlsitemaps.com which is supposed to be in google format.

I have looked up on google to try and work out where I have gone wrong, but have not been able to resolve the 'unsupported format' problem (probably due my limited web knowledge) and would appreciate anyone's help with this.

Kind regards,

that's strange.
cause it's easy.
create sitemap with .xml extension, upload it to your site viat FTP and then submit through Google Webmaster panel.

I had the same problem first time I was adding sitemap and I forgot how I did it and now I have to do it again and having same problem. Think the problem is in which directory to upload the sitemap (root, index, public). If somebody knows...Help!

I upload sitemap in xml and in txt format in root directory and google say: Sitemap is HTML! It looks like your sitemap is HTML page...
