Default Cloaking, and File uploads - 06-29-2009, 01:51 AM

I have a site that i created and uploaded to webs.com for my ecommerce class, and I didnt really feel like uploading all the files to this site, so I cloaked it with my domain name, but whenever i click one of the links on my site it sends me to that page, but it keeps the name of the site.

so...

lets say my domain name is "whatever.co.uk"

the place where my files were uploaded were "stuff.webs.com"

i used "whatever.co.uk" to cloak "stuff.webs.com", so it displays "stuff.webs.com", but in the address bar it shows "whatever.co.uk"

and when i click an internal link the url doesnt change, so whatever.co.uk stays in the address bar but it shows the page. This is a problem for me because i have a link to other sites, but "whatever.co.uk" remains in the address bar, although it might be another site, like yahoo, or google.

is there any way to change that?

if not...i uploaded the same files to the file manager on here, but im not really sure how to work everything on here yet, i just registered today.

I know this is lengthy, but any help is appreciated.

thanks.

it sounds like you're using frames.

if you open in a new window, that should solve the external links problem.
change:
Code:
<A href="http://3tn13s.deviantart.com/">Deviant Art</A>
to
Code:
<a href="http://3tn13s.deviantart.com/" target="_blank" >Deviant Art</a>
I'm not sure of any other ways to do this, and am not a fan of frames, but i think thats the best way to do all that you are trying to do.

Yeah, if you are using frames, then your gonna be stuck in the frame, what FnCool did will work, the only problem is it opens every link in a new tab. I personally would just say get a domain that provides DNS support.

if you use URL cloaking you automatically use frames, whether you want to or not
