Default Home page button constantly depressed? - 10-05-2010, 04:22 PM

Hi,

I have a really strange Internet Explorer 7 and 8 issue. The problem is that, no matter which page is being displayed, the home page button is always depressed. Can someone please explain how I fix this problem?

What do you mean depressed. It looks exactly the same in both Opera, Firefox and in IE9?

I mean constantly pressed down. I want only the current page to be pressed down but for some reason, in Internet Explorer 6 and 7 (not 8 like I accidentally wrote in the original post, sorry), the home page button is always pressed down.

Really? You mean everything works fine or that every button is permanently a solid black???

If so, there must be something wrong with my code. Can any expert tell me why I'm having these browser compatibility issues? It would be greatly appreciated.

HTML......

<div id="menuwrapper">
<ul id="menu">
<li><a href="/">home</a></li>
<li><a href="contact-us.html">contact</a></li>
<li><a href="gallery.html">gallery</a></li>
</ul>
</div> <!-- end menu -->

CSS....

#menuwrapper {
background-color: #333333;
height: 55px;
position: relative;
top: -10px;
}

#menu {
height: 38px;
padding: 5px;
margin-top: 7px;
text-align: center;
background-image:url(../media/menu_bg.jpg);
position: relative;
top: 3px;

}
#menu a {
text-decoration: none;
font-size: 16px;
padding: 0 3.45em;
position: relative;
top: 2px;
}

#menu li:hover {
background-image:url(../media/menu_item_bg_hover.jpg);
}

#menu li {
background-image: url(../media/menu_item_bg.jpg);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
display: inline;
padding: 12px 0px;
position: relative;
top: 11px;
width: auto;
border: 1px solid #666666;
}

In Opera, FF, and IE9, it looks like this:

I see. Well it should look like that, but the current page, and when a link is hovered over, should be a solid black.

It hovers black but not for the current page.

Well I can live with that. But it's important that the hover over feature works, and yes, it works in most browsers, but not Internet Explorer 6 and 7. That's the main thing, really: trying to make it work in those browsers.

All help appreciated. Thanks.
