Default Downloading a Zip - 11-21-2011, 06:18 AM

Hi,

I want to be able to download something from my host. I know how to include an achor link:

<a href="/documents/large_document.zip">Download the large document</a>

I tried:

<a href="/public_html/MyStuff.zip">Download MyStuff from My Host!</a>

The code is present in the index.html file...having clicked the link or right clicked and 'save targed as' just takes me to 000webhost.com

I know I need to do something, but do not know what...Could someone help me?

Edit: When in the File Manager, I was able to Open my desired zip file "MyStuff.zip" and download it to my PC..How can I do this through a link on my host?

<a href="http: //example.com/foldername/MyStuff.zip">Download MyStuff from My Host!</a>
or if in same directory like this
<a href="foldername/MyStuff.zip">Download MyStuff from My Host!</a>

It should work fine, that's a standard way of doing things, if you post your URL I'll check a link

Hi again Shock,

I revisited my host today after *overwriting* the old zip (yesterday) with a new zip (today) and I suddenly cannot connect to my host.

The exact error is: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

What can I do?

Do you mean you have uploaded a new website over the top of your old one? I'm not quite sure what you mean. Are you talking about the web URL in your public profile?

Sorry, that is not it. Please let me be more clear.

Last night, I had a question with how to include a link to download a zip from my host. We were successful in acheving that.

The way that I put the desired zip into the public_html folder is through the SFTP Client, FileZilla.

Today, I wanted to update that zip by ovewritting it with a more recent version. I did that and now I cannot access my site at all!

Whenever I type the name of my host in to the IE7's browser, I get an Internet Explorer cannot display the Webpage Error..

Edit: I have deleted the .zip from the index.html file and removed the link and I am still experiencing problems with connecting to my host.

There are still problems when I try to download the zip from the domain. I errors such as "The Zip File is Invalid" or "The Contents of the Zip File is Empty"...How can I ensure that the file being downloaded will arrive safely?

Rezip the the file/folder and reupload, the old one is either corrupt or empty.

Edit: How big is the zip file?

The Zip File is 35.5MB. I am using SFTP (FileZilla) to upload my file into the public_html folder.

Thanks for the reply.
