Where is this php5.cgi located on the server? I am trying to make a .htaccess file so that i can execute a .php file but I'm stuck without that information.


Or.. Is there an alternative way because whatever I'm doing right now isn't working.

PHP files should execute just fine without any "tweaking"....
And i highly doubt that PHP here has been compiled as cgi-module

there is no php5.cgi, these are linux servers
php will execute automatically.
what are you trying to do?
have some code?
a link?

erm...that seems to be a mod for the invision powerboard, not a standalone shoutbox. Have you added this mod to your invision forum?

I'm just following the step by step.
I didn't install anything directly to the forums from the admin CP

Installing: Step 1 - Uploading

At this point, you should have the zip archive "unzipped" and the contents similar to those shown in the structure and CHMOD guide. If you do not have a similar structure, check to make sure you have your zip program preferences set to allow creation of directories and to preserve case and long filenames.

Using your FTP client, move into the directory your Invision Power Board is installed.

Using your FTP client, upload the contents of your local (upload) folder (from the zip file) to your server. Some folders will contain other files and folders, upload them all - preserving the structure you have in your zip file (for example, upload the entire contents of the "sources" folder on your computer to the "sources" directory on the server).

That's it, the hard work is now done! You can proceed to the next step.

Installing: Step 2 - Using the Installer

Run the installer file through your web browser by entering the URL to it into your browser address bar (if you have followed our example, type in http://www.domain.com/forums/shoutbox_setup/index.php, naturally substituting 'domain.com' for your web address.)

You will be asked to logon using your Invision Power Board admin account. After you have logged into the installer, the installer will check if the Shoutbox module is already installed and give advice on how to proceed.

Simply follow the links suggested by the installer and it will install your Shoutbox. This process is done in multiple steps, so do not close your browser before the installation is complete.

Once the Shoutbox is installed you can login to your board's Admin Panel and you can find all the Shoutbox related settings in the Components tab, menu IP.Shoutbox.

where exactly does it screw up and with what error message?

It doesn't screw up, I just simply get to

I put the proper url and it just loads a blank white page, nothing executes, nothing happens, what so ever.

What is your domain, and do you have IPB installed?
