Exclamation Netbeans - The best free IDE I know - 04-27-2010, 04:47 AM

Greetings everyone,

I realize that many people don't know that there is a free program out there called NetBeans. Many of my friend write scripts in Notepad++ not knowing that with NetBeans they can do the same or more.
I use NetBeans instead of Dreamweaver for writting PHP and Javascript. It's just that good. Give it a try and tell me what you think.

Features of NetBeans

Sorry for the short post, but is late and I have to go to sleep...

I've used netbeans alot, but I am stuck with Notepad++ as I learn so much more when I use it, I have to know what to write.
And when I am fixing something, I normally close down the program straight after I fixed something, and if I need to fix it some more later, I have to open the program again, Notepad++ opens multiple files pretty fast, but netbeans in the other hand takes long time to load, and I do not have a bad computer.

Well, NetBeans takes a little while to open because it goes though all the code and looks for error and deleloper comments; Notepad++ (without third-party plugins) does not. Also, NetBeans support php debuging, something that I don't think notepad++ can do.
But if you don't really need those features, then you can trade them for the speed of notepad++.

This is something I can agree on

Netbeans is good if you are doing a big project and stay in it but as already mention for quick editing notepad++ is still the prefer way.

comparing netbeans with notepad++ is like comparing dreamweaver to notepad

The thing is netbeans is an IDE (integrated development environment ftw) while notepad++ isnt.

If your working on a large project then notpad++ isnt really much of an option. Its more practicle to compare netbeans to dreamweaver or another IDE

But if you ask me dreamweaver is one of the best IDE's out there for web development and nothing really compares to it. But then if im working on a java project i would have to say netbeans is pretty good, but in the end its all up to what you as the developer fills most comftable using, who am i to say that dreamweaver is better then netbeans, and vis versa. As long as the product can do what you want it to do and you know how to use it then it doesnt really matter what you use. And yeah for a free product Netbeans is pretty good
