Default Help: Cake PHP Install - 05-04-2012, 09:49 PM

Hi,

I am trying to install cake php (cakephp.org) on my website Sky5webmarketing.com I have extracted the files to public html under the folder Cake_2_0 which the cake php tutorial told me to do. When i go to this folder the setup for cake php should launch, but instead i get redirect to error page. I tried creating a mysql database but doesn't seem to fix problem. Any help or installation info not on cakephp.org would be helpful.

Thanks.

Edit:
Cake php requires PHP version 5.2.8
uner my user account it says my account has PHP version 5.2.*
what does the star mean?

000webhost only allows certain scripts to be run and my guess is that cake is unable to run via the methods they use to host websites.

The php version is not at issue, here. The current version installed, should be fine.

Possible solution, check that you have set correctly the 'file permissions'. They make all the difference

Re-read the 'developer documentation' that comes with the package, it should/may have references to 'file permissions'

?selcatceps ym era erehW
find \( -name "new_spectacles" -o -name "spare_spectacles" \) -a -atime -30 -exec mv {} /home/robh/Desktop/spectacles \;

Cake require mod_rewrite and we do support mod_rewrite but you must use rewrite base with / or whatever folder you are using.

All I snow is permission is set to 000 read write all I think. I am not sure how to do what you are saying but it is in the cake php install guide.
Can you explain how to use mod_rewrite? Is this under php settings?

Thanks to this thread, this worked for me:

/cakephp/.htaccess

Quote:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /cakephp/
RewriteRule ^$ app/webroot/ [L]
RewriteRule (.*) app/webroot/$1 [L]
</IfModule>

/cakephp/app/.htaccess

Quote:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /cakephp/app/
RewriteRule ^$ app/webroot/ [L]
RewriteRule (.*) app/webroot/$1 [L]
</IfModule>

/cakephp/app/webroot/.htaccess

Quote:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /cakephp/app/webroot/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [QSA,L]
</IfModule>
