was founded in 2005 and is now 13 years in business.
heliohost.org has tiny, flash based website which is hard to read and understand. While heliohost.org team says they offer free hosting for everyone, it's not 100% true. You need to pay for heliohost.org hosting services using "helions" For example, the smallest package with 150 MB space and 1500 MB bandwidth costs 250 hellions per month. So what are these mystic hellions? Hellions are forum posts. If you think "oh, just another provider that requires to make posts on forums" you are absolutely right. They have some restrictions too. For example, if you will use bad grammar while posting, account will be deleted. Not very funny... heliohost.org also offers packages with banner ads, but your website will be full of their advertisements, and it's not the best option too. So everything is up to you. If you have lots of time to spend on heliohost.org forums just to keep hosting account active, go and signup with this provider. Otherwise, search our directory for another free hosting - you will find plenty of them!

Sorry about that. We are working to improve this.

I know our uptime is so-so, but I can't imagine how you weren't able to get
ahold of anyone to discuss the issue. Our public forums are open for anyone
to ask a question.

Not sure how you can FTP into a database. This seems to suggest your
webmaster knowledge is limited.

You listed several issues, so I'm not sure which one was the 'huge' issue.

Slow servers mean more downtime. I don't see how your site could be down
on faster servers. It doesn't make sense.

I don't really 'rage' on anything, I'm just pointing out the fallacies in your review.
Review of heliohost.org by Athony Bulbar on 2011/09/08 at 03:41This webhosting service is better than 000webhost a lot! The information in this review is not correct! Maybe the one who wrote this review just want to promote the 000webhost! This review is a scam!
I agree that sometimes they make your site down with the 99.99 downtime due to server maintenance! For more stable use, I suggest using a stable server with NO RoR support! When you have created your account, you must wait for about 3 days for approval (that sucks)! HelioHost is just better for tesing web apps, for hosting a large site (video, images, music,...) is really not suitable and violate the TOS!
Average uptime of HelioHost is about 90.5%!
Review of heliohost.org by fuckingangryboy on 2011/09/07 at 19:07It is better than you guys! Take this fucking review and put it into your mother's asshole, it will be tight and make she feel good!
Review of heliohost.org by Mitsu on 2011/09/06 at 12:39Do not waste your time with this site. I made a comment July the 22nd and this is my response. I've had a lot of testing time and experience time with this site so far and it just isn't what you guys want. Here are a couple problems.
1) Half my users weren't able to even view the website
2) Downtime was at least 50% of the day, I don't care what the statistics say.
3) I found it impossible to get ahold of any staff to discuss the downtime issue
4) I never did find out how to FTP into my database, the system was so screwy
If they didn't have this huge issue then it would be a decent webhost option.
Take $20 from your bank account and buy a real host. I've switched to my own domain and it's a lot better than going out for free sites. And if you don't really have the money to do it because you're still under your parents rule, try a site like up4. The servers are slow but it's better than being down 50% of the time.
So yea, for now that's my 2 cents. Rage on it or like it. I'm just going by what actually happened as I tested it.
Review of heliohost.org by User 2 on 2011/08/17 at 19:32Everything is down. Did they go out of business?
Review of heliohost.org by my site!! on 2011/08/07 at 16:44Everything is down.
Did they close down or something? lol, r.i.p heliohost.
Review of heliohost.org by Mitsu on 2011/07/23 at 00:13Just started today. Not sure about this host just yet. Heliohost just went down for me. When the server was running it was having great speed. I read Someone's link for the uptime statistics. I'm a little concerned at 30 outages a month. But it is a free host so I guess I'll have to wait til I actually buy a real host.
Review of heliohost.org by Matt Reck on 2011/07/13 at 23:22They are way better than you guys is what i ment. 000webhost Sucks.
Review of heliohost.org by lsdkes on 2011/07/13 at 15:27Good host with no adds but very poor uptime
More down time 50% i think.
But is is free.
Review of heliohost.org by raydante on 2011/07/13 at 14:40While the site does have some issues, it does have Ruby on Rails and other features not found on free hosts.
And the "review" posted here? Total garbage. Maybe the owners of THIS site can put up an honest description of the competition. There is no "post to host" program.
