What moneyback guarantees do you offer?
We don't have an official money back guarantee policy, but I would be happy to provide you with a guarantee if that would help to earn your business. If you try us out and decide that you'd like to cancel your service for any reason with 14 days, we will refund any service fees you have paid. This refund only applies to hosting services and not to products such as SSL certificates.
What is your average uptime?
We've been providing web hosting for over a decade and in that time have only had three situations in which there was more than an hour of downtime. We have scheduled maintenance windows once per week, but rarely require any downtime. In the last two years, we've only had one time that our maintenance required any customer services to be offline, and it was limited to less than 10 minutes. The first and second major outages were between seven and eight years ago and were caused by shared hosting servers being hacked. In both situations, this required us to migrate all customers off of the affected server and onto other systems. Unfortunately, our procedures for doing this had not been streamlined at that time, but we learned a lot from that lesson and now have a much more robust and fail-safe infrastructure. The third was a scheduled outage about five years ago and was because we moved our entire infrastructure from one physical facility to another. This was done during the middle of the night on a weekend, and all systems were back up and running by early the next morning. We have no plans to move again, but may expand into other locations at some point in the future. Our monitoring systems are not publicly visible at this time, so I can't show you a status page. But our uptime is among the best in the industry. We are able to accomplish this by not offering any shared hosting services. All of our accounts are given a virtual private server (VPS) that isolates their services from all other customers. If one of our customer's VPS gets hacked, it will not affect any other customer in any way. Note that none of our VPS services have ever been hacked (only our old shared servers got hacked, and we don't offer that service anymore).
What is your support response time and what does it cover?
Support is provided via email. We will typically answer in less than an hour during business hours, but definitely within one business day. We also provide an emergency email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) if there is a server or network issue that is causing your site to not function. We do not provide development support, however we do have development experience and we have helped customers find code-related problems in the past. By default, we provide you with a Resin servlet engine and an Apache server. But that is optional, and many of our customers run JBoss, Tomcat, Jetty, PHP, or other solutions. Because it is a VPS, it can be configured to run different services if necessary.
Do you have any coupons or discounts?
We are currently offering free setup with all new accounts. We don't have coupons or other promotions available, and you would be getting the same pricing that all of our other customers are getting.
What else can you tell about your company and services?
We've been doing this for a long time and have specialized in hosting Java applications from the start. In fact, over 10 years ago, we were the first host to offer Java application hosting. At that time, you were lucky if your host offered anything more than perl and cgi. Of course, our servers can host other applications as well, but a large number of our customers are running Java applications. We no longer offer any shared hosting services, and all customers get a private VPS. Our infrastructure is robust, responsive, and secure. Our customers are very happy with the service we provide. In fact, more than half of our customers have been with us for more than 5 years. In an industry that experiences lots of churn, this says a lot.
