Any updates on this topic?
I'm trying to optimize my blog and I'm faced with the same problem. In my .htaccess file, I have:
[FONT=Courier New]# ENABLE GZIP COMPRESSION
php_flag zlib.output_compression On
php_value zlib.output_compression_level 5
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/xhtml+xml
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/xml
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/css
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/plain
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/xml
But GTMetrix tells me this:
Enable gzip compression
Compressing the following resources with gzip could reduce their transfer size by 277.2KiB (71% reduction).
And proceeds to list all my css and js files.
However, if I test my blog for compression, the result is that it is actually gzipped:
although I guess it only takes into account html files...
Thank you in advance.
PS. My guess is that 000webhost servers are ignoring the <IfModule mod_deflate.c> part. Could this be the case?
