CNAME instead of A (to assign user's domain)

To “attach” my domain, I have to use CNAME, to point to 000Webhost site unique domain name.

Is it the only option? Assigning CNAME to domain name itself (root record of DNS zone) generally isn’t supported (due to CNAME definition, it would make impossible to use any other records).

I have to assign ‘www’ subdomain to 000Webhost site and set up redirection like

example.com -> www.example.com

(assuming I used ‘www.example.com’ on 000Webhost)

Will assigning A records and using 2-nd level domain names be supported?

Thanks.

For my account I’ve setup a CNAME to my 000webhosting then on my registrar I’ve setup a redirect from http://mysite.com to http//www.mysite.com and my site works with and without www now
