I am trialling 000webhost and tried to import my existing site. However I get the max_updates_per_hour error (too many inserts?).
How am I supposed to do an SQL import with this limitation? Is there a way around this?
Drupal uses a lot of queries per hour, it may not be possible to import a database that large. Can you try creating a drupal installation from scratch and see if you get the same issue?

As this is free hosting, there are going to be limits. However, what is available on the 000webhost free hosting platform is often abused by spammers. Because of this, we have implemented a new policy that limits the number of concurrent MySQL connections. These new limits are as listed below.
30 concurrent connections (per database)
max_queries_per_hour = 15000 (DB read)
max_updates_per_hour = 5000 (DB write)
