Help with Htaccess

Hello there, new to the forum hope I am posting in the appropriate place. I was looking
for some help to add expiration tags to my headers, I suppose that is done through editing your hidden Htaccess file in your root directory.

The problem is what happens if you have no cpanel, or way to access that. If anyone has any advice much appreciated !

Actually there are no hidden files, all you need to do is create a new .htaccess and add your code.

thanks, so just a sftp upload then ? I dont know everything that is in a .htaccess file so did not want to overwrite any information in there that I may have needed, but the direction is just what I was looking for thanks !
