Using File Manager I cannot delete or update some files

I have a very peculiar problem.
I have a wordpress site ggforsberg2.000webhostapp.com and opened a folder called ‘images’ and put in .jpg files.

While many seem to be OK (I have not tested this with all) some - so far I have found 2 - files will remain even after I delete it. ex [I0071].jpg. After I delete the file, it is not on the file list in the File Manager, but appears on the website. If I upload another file with that name, it will appear on the list, but the ‘original’ file still appears on website. When I ‘view’ from the File Manager, it is still the original file!

Some work fine, but as I said two so far behave like this.

Any ideas?

We are looking into your issue

I have tested and deleted this file [I0071].jpg without a problem from your File Manager account.

I think you might have misunderstood me somewhat.
I did not want to delete that particular file, I have a problem that I cannot update the files (pictures), i have since found one more [I0001].jpg
I did this in File mManager:
[I0001].jpg shows picture A in view mode
I upload [I0001]a.jpg - it shows picture B
I re-name [I0001].jpg to [I0001]b.jpg - it shows pic A
I rename [I0001]a.jpg to [I0001].jpg - it shows pic A
I delete [I0001].jpg = the picture still shows on the website ( [I0001].jpg is still there, but not on the list

I cannot understand this at all, it seems the original picture is ‘stuck’. i have now found 3 like this, 1, 71 and 54

It worked fine for [I0025].jpg

Mind you, I have not checked all.

Something is un-right

@ggforsberg Have you tried changing the name of the file? e.g. from [I0001]a.jpg to [[I0001]b.jpg ?

I found similar errors a while back when hosting pictures externally on Cloudinary. I think it may be a cache-related issue. Changing the file name fixed it for me, then.

Yes. It can be related with a browser cache

OK, I have checked with my laptop as well.
Problem is, (refer to my earlier post) I delete picture A - it still appears on the website, then I upload picture B with the same name that picture A had. When I view the file within the File Manager, it shows picture A (which was deleted and should have been replaced with picture B).
Checking from my laptop, picture A appears after it has been deleted and after picture B has been uploaded. I can’t see how this can be a browser issue.
Some files work fine, some behaves like this.
I can’t understand it and I can’t explain it any other way.
I could, theoretically, change the file name by adding a letter to it, but that would have other consequences. The file name is generated from an external external database and is the same as the webpage and that means I would have to make changes to all images and all related webpages whenever I want to change or update one picture. or do it entirely manually. I have done that for one already, before I found this affected many.

It will be a browser cache issue.

You visit http://mysite.com/image.jpg and if I upload a new different image to image.jpg and visit myhttp://mysite.com/image.jpg it still shows the old one, so I run CCleaner and clear all my cache/history etc then I open my browser to http://mysite.com/image.jpg and the new image shows.

The same happens to http://mysite.com/index.html, I make some changes to the file, re-upload the file making sure to overwrite and then visit http://mysite.com/index.html in my browser but the changes haven’t shown and the old page still appears! Again a cache issue resolved by clearing the cache and history of my computer browser.

Many Thanks!

I tried the CCleaner and it seemed to solve the issue.
