Wordpress .htaccess permalinks problem

Hi there,

This is my blog: http://ontarioworks.site90.net

Everything is going great - fantastic service, by the way. My problem is that I changed the permalinks fromd “default” to something with “dates”, ie: 2008/12/this-is-the-post

I uploaded the .htaccess file to public_html and made it writeable with 777 chmod and made the changes that WordPress required. None of the links are working.

Can someone please explain how to fix this? I get the impression that this is a simple fix and I’m just missing something.

Thanks in advance

Does your htaccess look like this?

BEGIN WordPress

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>

END WordPress

My .htaccess is the same as what dWhite stated, so I believe it should work. Currently your site is “Under Review”, so this could be the reason it’s not working properly. And it is not necessary to make it 777, 755 is good enough. Try to update your permalink setting again once you uploaded the .htaccess file.

Yes. Granted my blog isn’t hosted on 000webhost, that htaccess is a general setup regardless of host.

Thank you for the quick reply. The following is my .htaccess

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>

Please forgive my frustration, but why is my site not visible?

Everything was working fine last night until I tried to switch the permalink for SEO purposes. I could have switched it back to default, but I decided to post here instead.

Why is my site not available, and why does the page tell visitors that it is being reviewed for malicious content??? This does not inspire confidence or encourage me to upgrade. :frowning:

I think this might help you : http://www.000webhost.com/forum/faq/1049-website-review.html
It has nothing to do with the .htaccess file

Okay, thank you, I can appreciate that.

It’s just very scary that that would happen. I had images of disappearing databases in my mind. :eek:

I’m glad it’s not the .htaccess, too. I thought I did something. My apologies for being so defensive.

My site has been checked and approved. Could someone please help me with the above issues, if anyone has any ideas? thanks

This may help you :smiley:
