Cannot point domain name. Error: An internal error occurred. Our developers have already been notified

Hello,
I tried just now again, but it still gives the same error. What do i do?

Hi !

What is the domain you want to point to your site?

Hi,
I want to point https://spoof.simz.site to https://spooftheband.000webhostapp.com/
I’ve been trying for quite some time now.
Please help.
Thanks

The DNS records are corrupted. Please go to your domain registrar and reset your DNS records to their default state. Reply after doing so.

Hi,
I checked with https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/dig/ and it shows that it is correctly pointed to my 000webhost website.
What do you mean by corrupted? Please explain.
Thanks

Your NameServers (the NS records) are not visible.

Hi,
I’ve reset my NS back to its default now.
But as per https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/dig/#NS/simz.site it correctly shows my cloudflare nameservers.

Ok. Now if you’ve reset the NameServers:

  1. Please switch back to Cloudflare NameServers in your DNS registrar cPanel (if you’re already using them, go to step 2)

  2. Set up the the following CNAME record in Cloudflare DNS cPanel:

    spoof -> spooftheband.000webhostapp.com

  3. Wait ~10minutes, then point your domain from 000webhost cPanel.

I forgot to mention: before pointing the domain to 000webhost, make sure the orange cloud from Cloudflare DNS cPanel > spoof are turned off.

Hi,
I tried after setting it to cloudflare but it didnt work. But now again, i reset the NS back to my registrar and set the CNAME record there (and no cloudflare in between). But it still doesn’t work, and gives the same error.

Hi,
Could you also tell me how did you know my DNS records were corrupted or where you found that info? So that next time I can myself check it.
Thanks

The NameServers (NS) are not returned in a known format:

@simonfitzger Please try the upper instructions again and stop at step 3. Reply after doing so.

Hi,
I have switched it back to Cloudflare NameServers in my DNS registrar cPanel. They said it might take 48 hours for changes to get applied. I have done step 2 also. I have tried it again. It still doesn’t work.
Also i see that error here, but i don’t understand. It looks like a 000webhost NS error.

Hi,
I tried again. It still doesn’t work.
I also made a new website with making any changes and tried to set the domain name, but it doesn’t work.
I also cleared NS, PTR and CNAME using this https://cloudflare-dns.com/purge-cache/

A developer mentioned you’d be able to park simz.site but not spoof.simz.site on the free hosting.

Are you using any other custom DNS settings? (glue records, custom NameServers, etc) in and/or outside Cloudflare for your root domain: simz.site?

No, I don’t want to park it. simz.site is already in use. This is a bad solution. I’ll be adding more subdomains in the future under simz.site, but not buy new domains for that!

Hello,
No, I’m not using any other custom DNS settings. But technically simz.site is also “parked” (not pointed) at another 000webhost website.

Developer reply

Can’t point or park 3rd level domains, seems to be possible on Hostinger though, so if user wants to use it, advise him to upgrade or seek alternative free hosting

As far as I can tell, users from free plans can park third level domains (I did it myself a few times). T̶h̶e̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶b̶l̶e̶m̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶D̶N̶S̶ ̶q̶u̶e̶r̶y̶ ̶r̶e̶t̶u̶r̶n̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶N̶S̶s̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶a̶r̶r̶a̶y̶ ̶t̶y̶p̶e̶,̶ ̶w̶h̶i̶c̶h̶ ̶m̶a̶y̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶s̶u̶p̶p̶o̶r̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶b̶y̶ ̶0̶0̶0̶w̶e̶b̶h̶o̶s̶t̶.̶ ̶

I don’t know what this is and why it’s not working. I’ll come back with a reply after I have a conclusive one.

@simonfitzger After further research, I have reached the conclusion that you are not able to point your subdomain to 000webhost because your main domain simz.site is already parked to another 000webhost account.

When domain is parked with success, all child domains can’t be used in 000webhost free plans anymore.

What should be done? In order to point spoof.simz.site to your site, you must first unpark the domain simz.site from the other account you have, then use CNAME records to point your sites to 000webhost instead of using parking method (which locks the domain to certain rules).
