Unable to install NextGen Gallery Plugin

Hello - I created a brand new Wordpress site 3.6.1

When I try to load the NextGen Gallery plugin I receive this “Are you sure you want to do this?, Please try again.”

So I manually upload it via FTP to wp-content/plugins and it works, but then I get this error when I try to insert a gallery in my post

“PHP Error Message”

“Warning: preg_match_all() [function.preg-match-all]: Compilation failed: unrecognized character after (?< at offset 35 in /home/a4502942/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/router/class.routing_app.php on line 212”

This is basically a brand new wordpress site and with nothing in it. Anyone have any ideas? Is it a problem with 000webhost?

Posting the error into google brings up a few links -

Anyone know if it is possible to upgrade from PHP Version 5.2.17 in the Cpanel for free users?

PHP version cannot be upgraded. If you need PHP 5.3 or later please check the link in my signature

Well the same exact setup worked over at http://byethost.com/
No workaround and no random php free upgrade

See you later 000webhost.com
