Introduction
It’s very important to have a WordPress website address configured properly. By following this tutorial you will learn how to change your WordPress website URL (example: http://yourdomainname.com/blog
) on 000webhost.
What you’ll need
Before you begin this guide you’ll need the following:
- Access to 000WebHost Account
- WordPress installed on your 000WebHost Account
Understanding WordPress WP_HOME and WP_SITEURL settings
You can adjust your WordPress website URL address using two settings provided by WordPress:
- WP_SITEURL - WordPress website address used to access the website (for example http://yourdomain.com).
- WP_HOME - Your WordPress files location (for example if files are placed in /public_html/wordpress, it would be http://yourdomain.com/wordpress).
The instructions provided in this tutorial will not move your WordPress files. You will need to do this manually by accessing your 000WebHost File Manager.
We would highly recommend to obtain a backup of your website database before making any changes. This can be done by navigating to your 000WebHost Members Area and clicking on Database section and exporting your MySQL database to your computer.
Option 1 — Changing WordPress address via WordPress Admin Dashboard
Login to your WordPress Admin Dashboard and navigate to Settings > General section. Under General Settings section find and enter your new WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL).
Click Save Changes button at the bottom and refresh the page. WordPress should now load using the new domain name.
Option 2 — Changing WordPress address via wp-config.php
Login to 000webhost control panel, click on File Upload and choose Upload Files Now button.
Open wp-config.php file (it is located in WordPress installation directory) and add the following code at the end of the file:
define('WP_HOME','http://yourdomain.com');
define('WP_SITEURL','http://yourdomain.com');
Don’t forget to replace http://yourdomain.com with your actual details.
Option 3 - Using phpMyAdmin to change WordPress address
Login to your 000WebHost account and access Manage Databases section, locate WordPress database and hit Manage. You will access phpMyAdmin tool.
On the left-hand corner select your WordPress database.
Inside your WordPress database, find wp_options table and click on Browse button. Please note that wp_ may be different depending on your WordPress installation settings.
Find and edit the siteurl or home entries by clicking on Edit button.

Conclusion
Congratulations, you have just learned how to change your WordPress website URL address. This can be very useful if you would like to change your domain name on your WordPress website or you are moving your WordPress files. Please note that in some cases you may need to clear your browser cookies/cache in order to see changes.
